NAPCA membership includes most U.S. applicators of protective coatings for pipe used in the construction of gas distribution and transmission and oil transportation pipelines. The Association’s membership also extends well beyond the U.S. to international companies located in more than 40 countries worldwide. As the industry has grown and adjusted to market events, so has the association’s membership broadened to accommodate these market changes. Today’s Associate Members includes practically all major suppliers of materials, equipment and services to the pipe coating industry. The association has concentrated on those companies that have impact on supplying the product to the end-user community. Most major line pipe mills are also active Associate Members. NAPCA recently amended its by-laws to allow distributors with substantial inventories of new steel line pipe to become Associate Members. Additionally, several trucking and stringing contractors who work with our Regular Members have also joined as Associate Members. NAPCA encourages the involvement of line pipe manufacturers, stocking pipe distributors, pipe transportation and stringing companies, quality control and inspection companies in its activities. The Association provides a forum where these different disciplines can discuss common problems, institute changes and work toward the common goal of providing the highest quality pipe coatings that meet or exceed industry requirements. The Association has established committees to monitor emerging areas of interest such as product development, environmental impact and governmental regulations. The material specifications committee maintains up-to-date application specifications for use by our members and their customers. NAPCA and its Member companies have taken an active role in working with the following industry associations and organizations to enhance overall pipe line integrity:
